Matching Problems As Societies Grow In Size: A Simple Thought Experiment

Episode Summary

For much of human history we've likely evolved in small tribes and in more recent history small villages which the numbers of others we would have interacted with been in line with Dunbar's number of 150 meaningful relationships. As we now live in larger cities aside from forming relationships this creates matching problems in many markets such as labour markets and mating markets. In this episode I conduct a simple thought experiment to uncover the challenges posed by the 21st century in these realms.
